YouDu Latest News and Updates

YouDu CMS Powers the New TSI Website

The new look website for the Trading Standards Institute has recently been relaunched and is now powered by BOCC's YouDu CMS (content management system).

The Institute decided that they wanted to streamline the number of separate websites that existed with the organisation and pull them together under one consistent content management system. This was so that content could be easily updated from one place, as well as maintained by a number of different people within the TSI team.

The YouDu CMS was provided to TSI with a full organisation enterprise license. The system now enables TSI to perform the followng tasks:

  • Effective page management, including rollback and workflow options.
  • Asset library management to include images, audio, video, documents and Flash files.
  • News and press release administration, including embargo dates.
  • User registration and email alerts, so that individuals can can register their interests to receive email alerts, opt to receive text or HTML messages and create their own user profile.
  • Ability to apply security to assets and pages across the site, thereby creating secure extranet sites and restricted access to content based on permissions.
  • A standard the site search that draws results from page and document content. It will also accept Google-like search queries - (+word, -word and phrases).

In addition there were a number of functions from the existing sites that needed to be incorporated into the new website.  These included:

Postcode Search - BOCC created a new page module within the CMS to display a postcode look-up form, together with results by postcode search that can be placed on pages or templates.

Existing User Details Import - TSI already maintained an internal list of individuals who they wanted to provide access to the various secure sections of their new website. BOCC imported the users from supplied by TSI via a scheduled process to the CMS and then we carried out a number of checks to ensure that a series of ‘deactivation’ and ‘ignore rules’ were put in place.

The TSI site was launched in early April 2009 and is hosted on a secure dedicated server at BOCC's datacentre in Oxford.

Issued April 2009
